Alice McCall Spring/Summer 2013/2014.
Something a bit different today :) I've decided to post a snippet/detail shot of Alice's S/S'13 runway because the details are the ones that really pop when I browse through the collection. Credits to these wonderful ladies for snapping them at MBFWA: Connie Cao and Sophia

What is the inspiration behind the S/S 2013/14 collection?
"Cruise takes inspiration from the masterful Art Nouveau French glass designer René Lalique and German naturalist Ernst Haeckel's illustrations."

Can you run us through your creative process?
"I love spending time at Kinokuniya book store in Sydney and market stores around the world when I go travelling. I'm also loving Etsy for vintage inspiration."

How has your brand evolved since your launch in 2004?
"It's become a business – we have three stores and plan another two within 12 months."

What's the best piece of career advice you've been given?
"Follow your gut instinct, then focus. Nick Cave recently said that ideas are overrated. It's the hard work on the idea that counts."

Kate Moss, Chloe Sevigny and Diane Kruger have been spotted in your designs. What other celebrities would you like to see in your pieces and why?
"I am loving Solange Knowles at the moment. She has her own thing going on."

What do you have coming up over the next 12 months?
"More flagship boutiques and an exciting relaunch of our eBoutique."

Shakuhachi Spring/Summer 2013/2014 : Cyber Barbarella.

The vibrantly sweet colours of Shakuhachi marked the end of Day 4 at MBFWA this year, opening up for more surprises to come for its final day. I really love how each colour is so smoothly intergrated with each other from head to toe. You definitely can't go wrong with florals when Shakuhachi tailors them by hand :)

These floral bombers have got to be my favourites! x

Lots of thanks to Rae from Little Hero PR for mailing these over to me. I was pretty thrilled to hear that a Shakuhachi flagship store was open in Melbourne quite a few months back. I think it was sometime in December last year...the store was so modern and cute with glassy walls that just makes you feel at home in seconds! With an array of sweet and brightly-coloured fabrics, I couldn't resist but to spend nearly an hour fitting on nearly a dozen outfits. The staff was very welcoming and helpful in finding the "perfect dress" for me (though I'm pretty sure that's constantly changing from season to season...) and I really can't wait to see these latest pieces to hit the stores, especially the one on Chapel St, Melbourne. Next time I go there, I'll document all about it haha xx

Watson x Watson Spring/Summer 2013/2014.

Day 3 at MBFWA displayed the wonderful designs created by the Watson sisters, Liberty and Somer, channeling their sense of grunge and luxe to a modern surfer girl feel. I'm pretty happy to show you some of these detail shots mailed to me by the lovely Fleur from Park Avenue PR. Such a joy to preview these runway close-ups before hand, which were professionally taken by Lucas Dawson. So here goes.

There is definitely more of MBFWA to come on Style Hostess but I hope you like the collection just as much as I do for now! Stay tuned xx

Style Hostess exclusive. Thanks to Lucas Dawson, Fleur Peters, Colette Harvey and the wonderful ParkAvenuePr team.

Aje Spring/Summer 2013/2014.

The sweetness of this label kicks off at MBFWA around 7pm. Why not, it's better than dinner ;)
Their collection last year was the start of an ongoing "love" relationship between me and Aje's beautiful sequins. I like how the pieces are slightly more toned-down and subtle this year. It's certainly a whole lot more wearable (though last year's sequin dresses and skirts were true exceptions...) and I still can't get over how pretty the whole venue was. Sakura, well cherry blossoms and makeshift trees were "planted" everywhere and it really just took a few seconds for you to be taken into a whole new place ♥

ps. I've got several runway collections on the post queue now, so don't forget to check in at Style Hostess from now and then for the latest runway updates. If not, or my site's giving you the same pictures on and on and on, then it's because I am ultra slow in getting things done. Life fact :p
